Support » Fixing WordPress » index.php is not automatically loading

  • I just installed WordPress on my website. It is installed in its own directory (www.organ-concerts.com/blog). When I direct the browser to the above address, it brings up a list of files and does not automatically load in the index.php file. What am I doing wrong?

  • Your web server needs to be told that index.php is a “default” page. If you have a hosting control panel thingy you may be able to configure it yourself, else you’ll need to contact your host.

You can add an entry into your htaccess to tell it what page to load. But I don’t think it has to do with that. there something seriously wrong with your install. Even once you load the index.php by clicking the link from the server dir list, its not loading the CSS nor alowing you to click links. Check your directory permissions.

I reloaded the files and re-configured everything. When you go to http://www.organ-concerts.com/blog it is still bringing up a directory. The CSS is working correctly now, but it should not be going to the directory. Does anyone have any more ideas? Thanks.
