Support » Fixing WordPress » Index.php broken on ALL themes – how possible?

  • Resolved Thea

I was trying out various themes on my blog. When I went to reactivate one of the previous templates I got this error:

“Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_header() in …public_html/ on line 1”

I have four themes available, and every one of them, even WordPress default, now gives the same error. How is this possible, since they all have their own index.php and header.php files?

I can see and read both files on cpanel and from the dashboard, but the blog is completely off the air. Help?

Sorry, this issue is now resolved. After some trial and error, I discovered that it’s the main index.php that’s the problem, not the one within the themes.

I had one theme which refused to upload properly – looks like in the process, it was overwriting the main index.php file. I copied a version from my other site and it’s working OK now.

    Sorry I panicked!
