# Index.html Problem

 * I have just launched a WordPress site to replace a HTML site.
 * I deleted the old index.html file from root directory. However I get a 404 error
   if the following url is executed:
 * [http://www.website.com/index.html](http://www.website.com/index.html)
 * How can I get [http://www.website.com/index.html](http://www.website.com/index.html)
   to direct to [http://www.website.com](http://www.website.com) instead of a 404
   error?
