I’m trying to replicate an effect in my development system a previous developer created in a navigation menu. The menu options display as level 1 and level 3; no level 2 is displayed. In admin, looking at the menu there is a box perhaps a third of the height of other menu items between level 1 and level 3. Obviously this box is a placeholder that provides the extra level of indentation. I cannot, however, figure out how to create it.

The effect can be seen in the Impact menu item at Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation

Your help is most welcome. Thanks.

  • I’ve figured out one way to do this: Add a custom link with URL http://# and label with at least one space. Indent this (barely visible) menu option and place other options indented below it.

So with a theme where the first indent level has low contrast between font and background and the second level has much higher contrast, one can create options with the high contrast and never the low contrast.

The downside is that the option seems impossible to remove!

    Hope someone finds this useful.
