Support » Fixing WordPress » Increase sidebar in TwentyTen Theme to 300px

  • Hi

    What I want to do is increase the sidebar of my site to 300px without shrinking the area where the posts are. I’ve tried various CSS to set this up with little success. I realize this will widen the entire site, which is fine.

    I know this is a simple thing to do, but my CSS knowledge is limited.

    How wide is the sidebar at the moment?

    Actually, it will be much easier to give up a few pixels in the content area:

    #content {
    	margin: 0 320px 0 20px;
    }

    #container {
    float: left;
    margin: 0 -300px 0 0;
    width: 100%;
    }

    #primary, #secondary {
    float: right;
    overflow: hidden;
    width: 300px;
    }

    Or, you will have to fix a whole bunch of things…note: some pages may require more CSS edits similarly, like single posts pages etc.

    My sidebar is currently set at 260px. I really wanted to keep the content at the same width side I use a lot of images.

    in addition, if someone knows how to add to the margin between the sidebar and the content area, it would be most helpful.
