Support » Plugin: Smush Image Compression and Optimization » Increase page load, but decrease image Quality

  • I used this plugin for several months and noticed it improved my page load but decreased the quality of my slides significantly (all my slides became blurry and fuzzy), so I stopped using it!

    Hope you’re well today.

Really sorry to hear that, I noticed that you didn’t open any support threads in our forums.

If you don’t mind could you please open a support ticket on our forums here:https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-smushit/ and our support experts will investigate this further.

    Have a great day.

    Hi @petinstaphotos,

Sliders occasionally use full size images for slides and that is not something that WP Smush free version optimizes.

However, it does have an option to resize images larger than selected size.
So, for example, let’s say you upload an image that is 2000×2000 pixels but you have setup Smush to resize them to 1000×1000, when you upload that image its full size will now be 1000×1000 pixels.

If you then put that image in a slider that is, let’s say, 1500×1500 pixels the image will be stretched in order to fill in the slide space.

Check if that’s the case and if it is make sure to change the original image size to a size of your slider and this way they shouldn’t be losing any quality anymore and you can keep using smush 🙂

    Cheers,
    Predrag
