 * **I understand this is a server issue, NOT wordpress. Please read below. **

   credentials: WP Environment: WP Version: 4.4.3 ( I cannot upgrade easily anymore,
   I have to upload manually and I don’t feel comfortable performing this_ WP_ Memory
   Limit: 256MB
 * Server Environment:
    PHP Version: 5.5.34PHP Post Max Size: 8 MB PHP Time Limit:
   300 MySQL Bersion: 5.6.30 **Max Upload Size: 2MB**
 * I looked on my other wordpress websites and noticed the Max Upload size is 64MB—
   I have a feeling my server deliberately lowered our upload size & I do not have
   access to the php.ini.
 * Is this common for servers to do this? How do I change it without contacting
   them?
 * Thank you

 * Here’s a good [guide](http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-increase-the-maximum-file-upload-size-in-wordpress/)
   on how you can increase the max upload size for your website.
 * If you are unsure how to do it using any of those steps, you can just contact
   your host and they can set it up for you.

 * Thank you for responding. I will have to contact my server since they put restrictions
   on what I can edit.
 * 2MB files seems awfully low, especially if the company has catalogs for products.
 * Any way I can upload the file to my FTP uploads folder to create a link? I don’t
   know how to go about it that way… Any info is most helpful.
    Thank you.

 * Yes you can upload the files using FTP instead. That will allow you to bypass
   the max upload size limit. You can do it using the control panel of your host
   or by using an FTP software like [FileZilla](https://filezilla-project.org/).

 * Worked like a charm. Uploaded directly to uploads folder on my FTP site. It did
   not however pop up in WP dashboard>Media. BUT I just typed in the URL that the
   file should be in and there it was.
 * Thanks for responding.
