Since installing this plugin, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in users and bounce rate in our Analytics tracking.

Users have doubled and bounce rate has increased from approximately 40% to 70%. Page views have stayed about the same as before installing.

Deactivating the plugin has decreased the bounce rate and users back to normal levels.

The GA script is installed on this site with Tag Manager.

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Hi @andrewreal,

We have analyzed the site and identified the issue. You have added the scanned cookie list in the site but haven’t added the google tag manager script via the plugin. So, when a user visit the site, the script run without consent and cookies are set. However, when the user clicks ACCEPT button without toggling the categories to enabled position, all the cookies are deleted as per the workflow of the plugin and the script is run again, which in turn set the cookies again. Each time the user reloads the page, this cycle repeats causing a spike in bounce rate and site viewers count.

To fix it, please configure the plugin correctly. Add the google tag manager script under Cookie Category > Analytics > Edit > head script area and make sure that you haven’t added the same script by any other means. Kindly refer the article here.
