Support » Fixing WordPress » increase font size on page title and tagline

  • Hello,

    I set up a website for the first time in my life over the past few days. Using twenty eleven theme.

    I’m having trouble figuring out how to increase the font size on the main page title and the tagline.

    Also, is it possible to set a different background color for the sidebar to set it apart more from the main body of the page?

    Thanks in advance,

    Justin

    I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/twentyeleven so the theme’s developers and support community can help you with this.

    will do, but looks like that forum is pretty dead. Then again, it isn’t twenty eleven any more 🙂

    Hi.,

    Try this code on your child theme css file

    #site-title a {
        font-size: 50px;
    }
    #site-description {
        font-size: 50px;
    }

    Perfect, thank you! Is there an easy way to center that text as well?

    #branding hgroup {
        margin: 0 auto;
        text-align: center;
    }
    #site-title {
        margin-right: 0px;
    }
    #site-description {
        font-size: 18px;
        margin: 20px 0;
    }

    Try this

    excellent, thanks so much!

    last question: is it possible to change the background color of my sidebar to set it apart from the main body of the page more?

    Yes possible

    #secondary {
        float: right;
        margin-right: 0;
        width: 20.8%;
        background: #f7f7f7;
        padding: 25px;
    }
