Incorrect translation: How to nudge translation team to fix?

Searched around, but cannot figure out how to alert the Italian translators to an error in the Storefront theme translation.

Someone already corrected the translation 6 months ago, but no-one has approved it, so the old translation persists.

The correct translation for “Posted in” [category] should be “Pubblicato in” [category], yet the incorrect “Pubblicato il” translation is still in the shipped code.

(“Pubblicato il” is correct for a date, but not a category.)

How can I nudge this correction? (I’ve checked out github and noticed that translation issues are not resolved there.)

The best thing you can do is suggest a better translation, it’s up to the reviewers to make the changes. You can read about how you can get involved in the process here: https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/handbook/tools/glotpress-translate-wordpress-org/

What I would suggest for your site is to use a translation plugin like Loco Translate (https://wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/) to change the translations directly on your site.

@mikeyarce, the better way would be to translate the remaining strings from https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-themes/storefront/it/default because only 57% of them are translated. You need to reach 95% approved strings to get a new language pack and so to have the new italian version automatically dispatched to all Italian WP installs in the world.
If strings are suggested, a mentioning of @wolly or @lasacco here for validation or further questions would be sufficient.
https://it.wordpress.org/traduzioni/ should explain how to proceed with the Italian translation 🙂

Absolutely, getting Storefront translated into Italian would be ideal for everyone. I meant that the best thing, for now, to get their site up and running, would be to first translate manually. I agree your suggestion of them sharing those translations with the community would be great! 🙂
