Doing a variety of pagespeed tests with W3 Total Cache, I’m wondering why there are inconsistent pageload speeds.

The first time I do a speedtest, Fully Loaded Time (via GTMetrix) is about 2.2sec. Hours later, the Fully Loaded Time is over 4sec.

    Any reason why?

You can repeat the test and check the Waterfall tab. Compare the tests and check the duration time required to load each request.

Pingdom doesn’t seem to be recognizing some settings that are processed on the server:

  • Compress components with gzip
    Add Expires headers
    Reduce DNS lookups
  • What should I look into first?

I would advise keeping testing on Gtmetrix. Using multiple tools for testing will just give you a headache.
What I can see is that Gzip is already enabled, and regarding Add Expires headers and Reduce DNS lookups this is related to some 3rd party resources (Google) and those we do not have control over.
