 * I have used Subscribe2 for years and it worked well untill now.
    Couple of days
back I have created a staging site with all data from live server. As it is a
staging server I don’t want any mails to be sent from it.
 * Under ‘Your Subscriptions’ tab, I have checked all the users in section **Do
not send notifications for post made by these authors** so that no mail should
be sent on adding new content. But as I added few test posts, all my subscribers
received mail with a link to those respective posts which was terrible.
 * I then checked the settings and found that all those checked values were unchecked
in **Do not send notifications for post made by these authors** section which
   is strange.
 * Can you help me why these changes were reset to default or any other settings
would impact this which I need to take care of further?

 * Easier way to suppress sending is to use the post meta box for subscribe2 that
stops emails being sent for each post.

 * Thanks for reply. But I just want to know why those mails were sent in spite
of all the checkboxes were checked under **Do not send notifications for post
   made by these authors** section.
I have added new post with one of the author
listed in that section which was checked.
 * That means no mail should be sent if that respective author has added new content.
But later when I saw the settings, all the checkboxes were unchecked.
 * I want to know what made this changes reset?

 * I’ve read your original post again and it’s not clear if you went into the ‘Your
Subscriptions’ page for every user on the site or just for your own account.
Bear in mind that the ‘Your Subscriptions’ page is the email subscription settings
for the email of the currently logged in user only.
 * I’m guessing that you though this was a site wide setting but please correct
   me if I’m wrong.

 * ohh.. yes. I got you now. I thought these settings are site wide. But as you
   cleared this is not. Thanks.
 * So is there a way I can prohibit or avoid any public subscriber to receive a
mail when a new content is added by any of the registered subscriber/author ?
 * I don’t want any public subscriber to receive mail when a post is added from
a specific user. Is there a provision like this?

 * There are a couple of ways:
 * Visit Subscribe2 -> Settings and under the ‘Registered Users’ tab you could exclude
all categories from generating a post.
 * Visit Subscribe2 -> Settings and under the ‘Appearance’ tab you could check the
option to have the notifications disable by default on authoring pages.
 * You could also disable the plugin but that’s not too helpful for testing.
