Incomplete WordPress eXtended RSS/WXR File (5 posts)

Every time I try to export an XML file of my entire (all authors) blog I get an incomplete WordPress eXtended RSS file. The last posts I get are from mid August. I cannot seem to find if there is a limit to the total number of posts I can export or if my setup is somehow messed up. This is a critical issue for me. Can anyone help?

I am having this problem too. It appears that there may be a 2MB file size limit on the export/import WXR file. When I tried to export my blog entries, dating between July 2003 and September 2008, the WXR file only had entries up to part of 2005. Right now I'm accessing the blog on a flash drive and am using the WordPress.com service.

My solution, which will take a lot of extra work, is to break the MySQL file into two or three smaller chunks and export those. The WordPress Codex provides instructions on how to import a WXR file that's too large.

I think this is definitely a problem that WordPress developers may not have foreseen, that some of us with large blogs may only be able to use the MySQL route in connection with WXR or instead of to successfully export/import our blogs.

I had the same problem, and realized I had an inordinate amount of spam comments. Once I deleted all of them, I was able to export a complete .xml file.

I have the same problem with the latest 2.8.4 version of WordPress. I hope the wordpress developers will find a solution for that ! It is so hard to export / import / translate all post, link, pics, videos etc. from one blog to another when you change provider for example ! Simple database backup is not enough at all !!!
