Incomplete internationalization

    Hello,

    Thank you again for your plugin : It’s great to provide somehow some automation and some “free content” for my directory pages.

    However my site is mostly in French, and even though I also provide an English version, the plugin translation is incomplete.

    It would be nice to have the image “powered by Google” translated.
    For the moment, I just have it hidden with some CSS.

    Same for the .wp-google-time content.

    It always show “X months ago” (even in, French that is).
    In French it would translate in “Il y a X mois”.

    So I have it hidden via CSS again in the meantime, hoping to get it translated in future versions.
    Please let me know when. There is no point in fetching latest reviews, if you can display how “current/updated” it is.

    Likewise “Ready to review?” should be translatable. It is nowhere to be found in the .po file, and is hardcoded in class-view.php.

    1. Unfortunately, ‘powered by Google’ is an image and can’t be translated and we added this to the plugin because Google requires it. You can read more information here:

    Started from the second topic: “If your application displays data from the Places API on a page or view that does not also display a Google Map, you must show a Powered by Google logo…”

    2. All time messages translated in a JavaScript (on the browser side) and used browser locale. If you see these messages on English, it means your browser has ‘en’ locale as a main, if it will be ‘fr’, you will see these all on French.

    3. ‘Ready to review?’ will be fixed in the next version 2.1.1

    Hello @richplugins,

    1 -> Based on what you sent me, it’s funny you still offer the “Hide headers” feature…

    2 -> I’ve just checked : Chrome > Settings > Advanced Settings > language > fr.
    So unless I looking at the wrong place, there’s a problem.

    Besided, some of us (I do) provide website in various languages. So I think relying on JS+locale is a rather limited, if not awkward, method, in my humble opinion.

    Hi @elcondorito,

    This is a common practices to provide localization of the common messages on a website based on a browser language. We haven’t come up with anything new here.

    Moreover, the default language is set when the browser is installed and depends on the OS language, and if it is English, then the user deliberately chose to change this value.

    However, about the 2 point, please go to your website where you see the reviews, open a browser console, type ‘_rplg_lang()’ and press enter, make a screenshot and post here. For instance:

    it says ‘en’.
    Still I would like to provide a correct translation, when my user switch from one language version to the other.
    Don’t bother. I’ll find out a way.
