    Hi @xhark,

Broken Link Checker hasn’t been tested for compatibility with Social Media Auto Publish but I had issues creating a Twitter App due to their system not sending SMS verification so I was unable to test this properly.

Could you give me some more information on when the issue exactly happens, meaning, do you fix your broken links inside the posts that are already on FB/Twitter and when you do that they are published again?
Or does it happen with any link delete in BLC, regardless if it’s on a post or not?

    Hi Predrag,

I fix broken links inside posts who never already post on FB/Twitter. Because The Social Media Auto publish was install after the publication of this posts.

I try to edit another post published before and both autopublish are OFF. If I edit the post and click update, the posts are not relayed to FB/Twitter.

But if I use Broken Links, it’s as if the publication option is checked at the same time as the post is updated.

    I will try
    – in a post already fix by broken links to see if it will be publish again or not by Broken Links
    – in a post already autopublished to see if it will be publish again or not by Broken Links

    thank you for your help

    Hello @xhark

I’m not much familiar with that social publishing plugin that you are using but since you mentioned that you have all auto-posting feature disabled – could you double-check if it’s not trying to publish posts when you actually update post (not publish new but just edit exiting, not yet posted one)?

Also, is it for sure the only plugin that posts to social media from your site?

    Kind regards,

    Hi @adam

I confirm, when I click “unlink” in dashboard of Broken Link Checker it publish a post on social networks (both FB/Twitter). I can confirm because my app name is display on twitter (linked to Social Media Auto publish).

Maybe you prefer contact the author of Social Media Auto publish ?

    Hi @xhark

    Thanks for response!

The thing here is that when you use “Unlink” option and plugin removes the link for posts, it needs to somehow save such edited post. This is unavoidable and the way it does it is that it uses core WP methods for this. It’s not directly editing WordPress database (e.g. post data directly in the WP by running direct SQL query) as it’s never a recommended way to edit data in the WordPress database (unless there’s no other way).

There’s always a chance that doing this might trigger some other actions from other plugins and it’s not really because Broken Link Checker does that but because of how other plugins are hooking to core. So in this case, it seems that the Social Media Auto Publish plugin, even though it has auto-posting options disabled, is for some reasons “detecting” that he post was updated and ignoring the options settings.

I actually thing that this is something that should most likely be fixed in the Social Media Auto Publish plugin (as there might also be other plugins apart from Broken Link Checker that may affect it in a similar way) but let’s see if we can find any workaround/patch on our end.

I’ve asked our developers already to have a look into it to see what we can do on our end. I’m not able to give any ETA but we’ll update you here as soon as we get to know more.

    Kind regards,
