Support » Plugin: WP GDPR » Incompatibility with WP Discuz?

  • Dear team,

thanks for this great plugin – will come in very handy.

I installed and activated it today, yet I didn’t get it to work. Instead of the standard WP commentig system I’m using the quite popular WPDiscuz (https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpdiscuz/).

When WP GDPR is active, the comment function isn’t working any more at all. While it is technically possible to write and post a comment, after hitting “publish” the comment gets posted by “anonymous” and without any content (on the frontside, no db entry is written).

On a different test page where I use the standard commenting system, the plugin works fine incl. checkbox insertion.

Would be awesome if you could look into that.

    greetings from Vienna,
    Ritchie

    Hi Ritchie,

Thanks for the feedback. We will look into this.
    I’ll keep you updated.

    Kind regards,
    Mieke

    Awesome, thank you!

    Hi Mieke,

I saw that you added support for WPDiscuz – wow, fast moving 🙂

There are still some issues though: The checkbox is only shown for level 1 comments – once the user clicks “reply”, there is no checkbox within the reply form. (So it’s basically not possible to comment in this case).

Also, the checkbox appears below the form (below “post comment” button) in a different format and might be easily overlooked. I guess the best way would be to integrate it into the actual form.

In other news: I noticed that the inserted comment label (“This form collects your name, email and content…”) isn’t translateable any more. The string is in the po file, but the English version still gets displayed.

    Hi Ritchie,

Thanks for the info. I will check what’s wrong with the translations.
We overlooked the reply form, so thanks for the report.

We worked with the existing WPDiscuz hooks and we didn’t find a hook to change the form itself only before or after the form are hooks.
I will ask WPDiscuz-support if there are ways to change the form itself.

    Kind regards,
    Mieke

    Hi Mieke,

great, thank you – I hope the wpdiscuz team will find a way to change the form. I tried myself, but to no avail 🙂

    greetings,
    Ritchie
