Support » Plugins » Incompatibility between EventCalendar and Podcasting plugin

    Hey Alex,

I’m having a pretty bummer problem. I’ve got a site, that uses EventCalendar to build an event list. Great. Love it.

I’d like to enable podcasts of these events, and so I’ve installed the Podcasting plugin, which is the most no-nonsense and highest rated podcast plugin I can find.

Here’s my problem, though. EventCalendar and Podcasting appear to be incompatible. When I make a test post, without event information, everything goes great, the podcast shows up in a podcasts category and podcast feed etc. When I add event information to that post, save the post, a couple things happen:

    1. The post disappears from the podcasts category and podcast feed (weird)
    2. Enclosures get all kinds of messed-up on the post, duplicating the podcast enclosure, and inserting two players instead of one. If I try to delete the duplicate enclosures, and resave, then things get REALLY messed up.

I’ve tried both your current stable plugin and the beta release, both to the same effect. I’ve also notified the Podcasting developers.

    Rock on,

P.S. I’ve verified that the same behavior occurs with the PowerPress plugin in terms of now showing up in podcasts category and feed.

  • Alrighty, I figured this one out, sort of. I’m still not sure what’s up with the enclosures stuff, but all I needed to do was change the EventCalendar setting “Show events as blog entries:” to “Events are Normal Posts”.
