    Hi Asgaros,

    I upgraded wordpress theme to 5.0.4 AND/OR 5.1.1 , the subject box is there but the message-box DO NOT open/expend at all?

    I even updated your plugin to 1.14.4 , no luck…… I tested and restored back/fore many times, the message-box work right away on theme 4.9.5

    Please advise help,
    Thanks

    Hello @damndramaqueen

    Which Theme are you using? WordPress comes with multiple themes and the ones included are working fine.

    If only the editor is not working, then this is in most cases caused by another plugin. Especially optimization/minifier-plugins often remove editor-components from the frontend. Please verify, that this is not caused by another plugin by disabling them one by one for testing purposes only.

    Hi Asgaros,

    I was using a free theme downloaded online, it was fine until I updated. I knew it was a theme issue, wordpress 5.1.1.

    I just switched to the twenty-sixteen. it works like a charm once it’s activated. Everything is running smooth again as normal.

    Thanks for the heads up on the plugins, finding out, the cleantalk spam plugin was giving site issue and make posting slow.. I deleted that too.. Posting is so much quicker! 🙂

    Thanks for your big time help once more! YOU ROCK BIG TIME AS ALWAYS! 🙂

    Hi Asgaros,

    Oh boy or girl, I must be bored, although this support ticket is already closed,
    but just an update purpose only.

    Anyway, Glad I installed the same old theme fresh from scratch. Suddenly the message-box works again, perfectly. By luck, I ftp the functions.php back-in before anything, Checked around within, the issues came back?!!!

    Must be the functions.php??? so I switched the functions.php with the blank/old for testing. Sure thing is one of the function after all. I tested with/without the existed functions… Founding out which function, now it’s all good even with the theme and plugins.

    Oh my, I know functions can cause issues! By luck to pin pointed with a fresh theme. Happy Camper, one less Tylenol i don’t have to take 🙂

    Hello @damndramaqueen

    I am happy to hear that you could find the custom-code which caused this issue. Was it a modification to change some of the behavior of Asgaros Forum or something else?

    al

    See, I had a theme found out much later on had lot of issues per hosting guys After it was modified. I hired a developer and did a wonderful job. It’s the theme in general, every time I updated the theme, it messed up the site big time.

    I end up using a free theme, but it’s not developed to work/compatible with any plugins. Layout, etc, so it’s more headache when it’s not a team player if you know what I mean?

    I found out there are many updater on the old theme. So I tried it again. Over all, the theme got 80% less issues than before that I can remembered. I.e. World Record issues LOL

    To make the long story short. That’s how I got started by luck know is the function I was using causing the New Topic and Reply Message (box) stuck, will not expend..

    meanwhile, I just tested again, sure thing, it’s 100% causing your forum unable to write post.

    If you like to take a test drive? Here is the function. After you insert in the functions.php head right to your forum and click the NEW TOPIC button, and if already an exist topic, click REPLY, you will know what I mean if it happens the same way as for me, or maybe not?!!

    Note: Once I took out this useless function, your forum works like a charm again!!! So, this function is going to the trash, dumpster!!!!!!!!!
    ———————————————————-

    function defer_parsing_of_js ( $url ) {
    if ( FALSE === strpos( $url, ‘.js’ ) ) return $url;
    if ( strpos( $url, ‘jquery.js’ ) ) return $url;
    return “$url’ defer=’defer”;
    }
    add_filter( ‘clean_url’, ‘defer_parsing_of_js’, 11, 1 );

    ————————————————————

    If you going to try it, feel free to let me know if you like?

    Btw, your forum ROCK BIG TIME. Also is one of my priority to keep your forum going.

    Thanks,

    Hello @damndramaqueen

    Yes, it seems that this code removes jQuery from your website which is an essential part of a lot of WordPress and forum-components (for example the editor). Thats also the reason why you had those problems I guess. 🙂

    Hi Asgaros,

    Thanks for checking into it. Ya, when I had that function, it even took out the admin editor. Which I didn’t know, so I have to install an editor plugin.

    Now you mention about the editor, I just deleted the classic editor plugin and it came back. I activated back because is more friendly user than the default.

    Thanks so much for helping and clarified as always! You ROCK AGAIN 🙂
