    Hi Hector,

Great plugin! I am developing a theme that I will sell on themeforest, and I want my users to have a popular posts widget. Yours is the best I have found, and normally, I would simply recommend the plugin in the documentation of the theme, but this time I need to change some of the code in your plugin’s php file to match the design of the theme I am developing (they are deeper changes than the html options you provide at the bottom of the widget options (unfortunately)), so to use your plugin I need to edit the php files and include the plugin in my theme’s final zip file. I realise that if you update your plugin and people who use my theme install the update, the plugin will break with my theme. But that is okay, I will update my theme every time you do that.

I just wanted to confirm that you give me permission to do this? I will of course leave all your credits at the top of the files intact. I will simply add a line at the top that says “Partly modified to work with X theme” so people know it’s a slightly modified version of your plugin.

    Thanks Hector.

    All the best.

    Hi there,

Please go ahead, you got my permission. Out of curiosity, what kind of changes do you require to make WPP compatible with your theme?

That’s excellent. Thank you very much Hector.

The changes are small, I just need to make the html like this: <li><h4>title</h4><img src="thumbnail"><span class="stats"></span><a class="someclass"></a></li>

So no links on the image or title by default. Your plugin gives control for everything except to control the links, perhaps in a update in the future you could incorporate this setting into the custom html settings?
Or perhaps it is already possible but I missed how to do it? The content format options are currently: {image} {title}: {summary} {stats}, is there a way to show them without links?

    Thanks again 🙂

I have included some extra options on the development version, but they still need a bit more work and documentation. The new tags will be available on the next release 😉

That is excellent news! Your plugin is now as customizable as anyone could ever need, truly impressive! I can’t wait to test it out Hector. Thanks 🙂

    Hey there,

Just a heads up – the development version has just been updated and gotta say I’m pretty much happy with the results! Would like your review on this, if you have the time of course 🙂

    Cheers!
