Including exact results first
-
We’re working on a website with several thousand vehicles on it (built as a custom post type), and I’m running into a problem with search relevence.
If you visit http://www.agentauto.com/?s=2010+Chevrolet+Aveo&submit=Find+it%21 you’ll see that we’re searching for 2012 Chevrolet Aveo’s. You’ll notice that right now only the top vehicle is the one that we’re looking for, while all of the vehicles under it are actually trucks. Now, if I add quotes around the search phrase like this: http://www.agentauto.com/?s=%222010+Chevrolet+Aveo%22&submit=Find+it%21 we’re actually got 4 exact matches for this search. I am trying to figure out how I can include these exact matches before the rest of the results.
I have tried the AND operator, however it does not seem to change the results in any notable way. I’ve also played with the search weight quite a bit and I’m coming up empty as well.
