[resolved] Including events in post type with WP Popular Posts (6 posts)

    I've been using the WordPress Popular Posts plugin to display pages and posts, but would like to include popular events from my site's calendar, which is created with "The Events Calendar" plugin.

    Do I simply go to settings and change post type from "post,page" to "post,page,event" or "post,page,events" or do other changes need to be made, too? I changed the setting to "post,page,event" -- but, don't see anything yet. Not sure if it is too soon or if other settings need to be changed, too.

    Here is my site: http://www.lithuanianmha.org.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi lithuanianmha,

    Sorry for the late reply. I guess you have already figured it out by now, but in case you didn't I just checked the plugin and it appears to me that it uses three different custom post types:

    const POSTTYPE = 'tribe_events';
    const VENUE_POST_TYPE = 'tribe_venue';
    const ORGANIZER_POST_TYPE = 'tribe_organizer';

    I believe the one you need is tribe_events.

    Hello, Hector.

    Thank you for responding.

    In the widget settings, there is a filter for post type(s). If I understand correctly, instead of completing the box with: post,page,event, it should be completed with: post,page,tribe_events. I've made that change and will wait a few days to see if it works. If not, I'll post again here.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Correct! However, if you allow me to make a suggestion I'd create a separate widget for the Popular Events, so that they don't get mixed up with the popular articles / pages.

    Anyways, let me know what happens.

    I like your idea of separating them, Hector and will try it. One of our events already appeared in the original widget area today, so it works. Thank you so much!
