We have our system set up to enter prices including tax, and to display prices including tax. The tax shows up in the cart correctly – the Total is followed by the tax included in brackets.

However, the included tax is not being listed on the Woo emails which I understand it should be. On another one of our sites with the same setup, the tax is shown on the emails.

We have tried troubleshooting by disabling all plugins except Woo and using the 2024 theme to no avail. The email previews and tests still do not show tax on the emails.

We are using the latest version of Woocommerce.

  • Hi @mkavanti,

Welcome to the WooCommerce forum, and thank you for sharing the details of your setup. I understand how frustrating it can be when the included tax displays correctly in the cart but doesn’t appear in the order confirmation emails, especially when another site with a similar configuration shows it as expected. I’ll do my best to help get to the bottom of this.

Just to clarify: was the tax previously showing in your store’s emails and stopped after a recent update, or is this a new store setup where the tax has never shown in emails?

To help us investigate further, could you please provide the following:

    1. A copy of your System Status Report from WooCommerce > Status via https://pastebin.com
    2. A screenshot of your order confirmation email preview using https://snipboard.io

Once we have this, we’ll be able to dig deeper into the behavior. Looking forward to hearing from you!

It’s not a new store. I have looked back at emails and it looks like this stopped working some time in the second half of 2024.

    Hi @mkavanti,

Thanks for providing both the screenshot and your system status report; that’s really helpful. I’ve taken a look at the email preview you shared, and I also tested your checkout flow. I can confirm that your product prices are set as tax-inclusive, and everything appears correctly calculated on the frontend.

I also ran a test on a clean WooCommerce site using the same setup, with prices entered and displayed as tax inclusive, and noticed that, in this configuration, the tax typically appears within the total rather than as a separate line in the order emails. This behavior is consistent unless prices are entered excluding tax, in which case, WooCommerce usually adds a separate tax row in both the cart and the email.

Just to help us pinpoint this further, could you clarify if the screenshot you shared was from a recent order email or one from back in 2024 when the issue first appeared? Also, has your store always been set up to enter prices including tax, or was that changed at some point?

As a next step in troubleshooting, could you temporarily switch your tax setting to “Prices entered exclusive of tax” under WooCommerce → Settings → Tax, then place a test order and check if the order email shows the tax as a separate line item? That will help confirm whether the current tax display behavior is tied directly to the tax configuration.

Let me know how it goes, I’m here to help based on what you find!
