Support » Theme: Customizr » In Safari, the very first image of each article is oversized (when using Photon)

  • Hi,

    I use WordPress’s Photon CDN service, and I’ve discovered a strange anomaly on the latest version of Customizr Pro: under Safari on a Mac (this does not happen under Firefox or Chrome) the first image on every article does not display at the correct size, but it pretty much uses all available space. Now I’m aware that this is very likely an issue between Safari and Photon (I have no idea if WordPress changed something recently), but I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem as I have.

    Here is a (real) example from a site with Customizer Pro where this happens:

    <img data-attachment-id="2815" data-permalink="https://feminina.eu/2016/10/10/midlife-crisis/img_4235/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/feminina.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_4235.jpg?fit=960%2C1280&ssl=1" data-orig-size="960,1280" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;2.2&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;iPhone 6&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;1475206411&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;2.65&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;320&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0.03030303030303&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;1&quot;}" data-image-title="Looking towards a bright future?" data-image-description="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/feminina.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_4235.jpg?fit=225%2C300&ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/feminina.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_4235.jpg?fit=768%2C1024&ssl=1" class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-2815 tc-smart-loaded" src="https://i0.wp.com/feminina.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_4235.jpg?resize=225%2C300&ssl=1" rel="tc-fancybox-group2813" alt="Looking towards a bright future?" sizes="(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px" srcset="https://i0.wp.com/feminina.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_4235.jpg?resize=225%2C300&ssl=1 225w, https://i0.wp.com/feminina.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_4235.jpg?resize=768%2C1024&ssl=1 768w, https://i0.wp.com/feminina.eu/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/IMG_4235.jpg?w=960&ssl=1 960w" style="display: block;" width="225" height="300">

    Note that the same code will display the image correctly resized to 225×300 on Firefox and Chrome. Also, all previous versions of Customizr Pro had absolutely no issue whatsoever. Last but not least, why does this only happen with the first image, but not with the others?

    On this particular website, the customer didn’t want the featured image to be automatically displayed (mostly due to resizing issues — all the featured images are portrait, not landscape). I thought that somehow this might be related… although I cannot understand why the image gets properly resized under Firefox/Chrome. Why does Safari handle the same code differently?

    I should also mention that on the websites I do for customers I always use some caching plugin (in this case, WP Fastest Cache) as well as Cloudflare in front of everything. As said, all that worked flawlessly with previous versions.
