• Hi,

Pardon my english (i’m french) and the fact that i’m using french wordpress versions on all my sites… so i “translate” on the fly 😉

Imsanity breaks the image editor. I tried on wordpress 4.4 and 4.3 with latest imsanity version.

Go to the media manager, open up an image, click on modify the image, crop it, save it.
The file name is ok (a suffix has been added), the web address is ok (it points to the new image file that has just just created)

However, the preview does not change, it is the old uncropped file…

Maybe a problem with the postmeta data in mysql ?

  • Do you by any chance have any other plugins installed? I have a default WordPress install of 4.4 and the media library editor seems to work normally with Imsanity installed.

I just tried on a new installation, no plugin whatsoever…

    i installed imsanity

    Same bug

i disable imsanity, bug disappears !

when cropping go from a landscape to a portrait image

I don’t know if this is what you are doing, but here is what happens on my test install

First i’d like to thank you for your time 😉

i changed imsanity settings to resize to 900×900 like in your video, and there is no bug…

in fact there is no bug, when imsanity resizes smaller than the large image in the media parameters of wordpress …

    Try using my parameters :

large thumbs in media parameters: 1024×1024
resizing options in imsanity : 1024×1024

ok thanks for that – i was able to reproduce the problem. It’s pretty weird – I’ll have to do some research to see what’s going on. In the meantime, if you need to get it working, perhaps changing one of the settings I guess..?

good luck for the research 😉

    keep up the good work!

oh, haha – i think you actually found a bug with WordPress.

If you disable Imsanity – but upload an image that is already resized to 1024 px – then your bug appears.

So it seems this is a bug with wordpress when the size of the image is exactly the same as the “max” in the media setting.

    I created a WordPress ticket at https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/35085

If you disable Imsanity – but upload an image that is already resized to 1024 px – then your bug appears.

you are right the bug appears for the exact same dimensions. However, when imsanity is activated, the bug appears whenever the resize settings of imsanity is bigger than the large size setting in the media parameters.

    Try 1048×1048 in imsanity
and 1024px for the large size parameter
There goes the bug again !
when imsanity is disabled, there is not bug.

I don’t know how imsanity works, it is maybe linked…

In the ticket, you say there is a preview glitch, i think it’s a little more than that, in fact it seems that the large version of the file is the uncropped version…

If you disable Imsanity and upload an image exactly 1048 – again the bug happens.

I didn’t look into the code of WordPress, but what seems to be the case is when the “original” and the “large” size image are very close in size to each other – then the bug is triggered. Hopefully the WP devs will take a look into this.

    i just tried… you are right…

it’s just amazing that such a bug exists!

    This is a HUGE one!

Yes, nice find! Hopefully they will notice the issue and get that fixed.

Hi Jason, I think it’s pretty amazing the bug report is still awaiting review, do you have other experiences with wordpress bug report, is it regular stuff ??
