Improve Gutenberg “Notes” UX – add visibility in sidebar or icon indicator
-
Hi
I’d like to share a small UX suggestion regarding the new “Notes” feature in Gutenberg (WordPress editor).
Right now, Notes are a great idea for editorial workflow — especially for SEO work, planning content, and leaving internal reminders inside posts.
However, there is one major usability issue:
- Notes are only visible in the editor flow
- They are not visible in the block settings sidebar
- There is no icon or indicator showing where notes exist in the document
This creates a problem in longer content:
- It’s easy to forget that notes exist
Suggested improvements:
- Add a small icon/marker
This would make the feature much more powerful, especially for content creators working with SEO, editorial workflows, or multi-author sites.
Right now, the feature is useful but feels slightly “hidden” and disconnected from the editing workflow.
