I started a blog 1 year ago and plan to end it in a few months. I bought the domain name and hosting from Go Daddy. It is time to renew it and I didn’t realize that If I don’t pay for hosting, the website will be deleted. I don’t want to work on the blog anymore, but I wanted to be able to view it and have it as a memory. Someone suggested transferring it into a free wordpress blogspot format. (I believe that is the difference between wordpress. com and wordpress.org?) Is this possible and how do I do it? Do I need to map the domain to the wordpress.com blog? If you do map the domain, you still need to annually renew the domain registration through GoDaddy. * You can use any of the themes found at [https://wordpress.com/themes](https://wordpress.com/themes) on your WordPress.com blog. When I go to wordpress.com and claim my blog name, should I continue with the rest of the steps like choosing a theme right then? Or should I just choose the name and then import my blog and choose a theme after? * When choosing a theme, should I look for something that is visually similar? Or should I just pick something that has the same features as my previous theme? * Do you recommend backing up my blog before doing any of this?
