    Using the following
    Wordpress 292
    Ubuntu 9.10
installed on Local computer I can access wordpress with localhost/home/mel
Everything works except importing a xml file from another wordpress. I get a error message when I try to import the file to my uploads directory. The file is on the same computer and I can see it. When I hit the upload button in Dashboard I get the following error message:

The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/mel/www/rvblog/wp-content/uploads/

The directories are there and everything else works. I can log in as a user as admin I have changed the theme and added plugins. I just can’t import the xml file from my other wordpress blog.
    any help would be apppreciated.
    Mel

  • you should check your permission of your upload folder, set it to 777 and try again.

    Thank You
That was the problem. it is now solved. It might be worth metioning that if you have subfolders in the uploads directory you need to do the chmod recursivly for it to work. Example:
    chmod -R 777 /home/mel/www/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/02

The -R is a uppercase -R the 777 is the permissions and the rest is the path to my uploads directory and subfolders in that directory.
