• Hello all. I have full backups belonging to a website. I didn’t install that WP site but now I am importing the ftp files and databases to a new hosting. But

There are 2 database file for Turkish (default one) and English language. I am going to install the files to ftp. That’s OK. And I am importing the 2 database file creating 2 empty database by Phpmyadmin.

    But…

As the site owner said There is no 2 web site to enter 2 language content but only 1 Worpdress admin panel ?!

Is that weird ? How to track a path ?

PS : I am looking at the WP plugins on the backups and there is no language plugins !

Hm, that sure is odd. How exactly did you originally generate the backups? Was it manually, via a plugin, which plugin, etc?

No, not via a plugin. Only manually via Cpanel.

Ok, maybe there was more than one database on the hosting account, but only one was applicable to the site in question?

Check the posts tables, do they seem similar or very very different? Also, take a look at the siteurl and home fields in the options tables.

I am sure that first database is for default language. And second one is for English language. The site owner already said this.

(Actually I am a bit late, so I didn’t yet import the backups. I try to resolve the confessing not to make a mistake)

Oh, so then I’m not sure what the issue is here. When not import both databases?

If the question is which plugin was used for the language functionality (because one was definitely used, that’s not built-in WordPress functionality), then I guess take a look through the table names in the secondary database, as well as all of the fields in the options table, to see if one corresponds with a language plugin.

I looked at the files from the backups but not databases. I realized that there is WPML plugin inside en (English) folder. (en/wp-content/plugin)

What should I do ? I’m importing the files and databases right now. I wonder will there be problems? Because I (actually site owner) was entering via one admin panel to translate the contents. But there are 2 WordPress folders (wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes) and databases. Also the plugins are different inside second files.

    I’ll write the results.

Ok, since that is a commercial plugin, we ask that you please go to their official support channel, so you can get support from the people who know it best.

    https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why it is not working properly. Other community members who may have faced your issue might be able to help you but your best bet is your product’s developer. Keep in mind we encourage you to use the official support venues, as it allows the developers to be aware of issues with their code and gives back to the community in a more robust way.
