Hi,
Did you try our new update 3.5.2?
No, I haven’t. It has been released after I posted the above. Has it been resolved in this new version?
Hi Esther,
Our developers have released the 3.5.1 version update, which includes a fix for this issue. You can keep an eye on our changelog here.
The latest version of Elementor is 3.5.3.
Please try updating to this version. Afterward, go to your WordPress dashboard > Elementor > Settings > Advanced and make sure the Unfiltered File Uploads is set to Enable: https://snipboard.io/9ShpHR.jpg
Let us know if it helps.
Hi @michellei ,
it clearly says that enabling unfiltered file uploads involves security risks. What if something ocurrs while uploading my template(s)? I really don’t want to risk it. Moreover, if I did this on all websites I need, I’d have to remember to disable this feature after uploading all files on all domains, right?
Shouldn’t this be fixed without having to go through this step, as it was before 3.5.0.? I think I’d rather stick to 3.4.8. and wait till bug is fixed, unless you can assure me that there is no risk by enabling unfiltered file uploads as it states on Settings.
Hi,
I understand your concern.
As we are still investigating the issue, enabling this option is considered a workaround.
If you feel unconformable with it, you may roll back to 3.4.8 until there’s will be a permanent fix.
Other options I found that works for users are:
1. Go to CPanel go to settings → select PHP Version → change it from 7.4 Native to 7.4 → go-to options → and increase memory limit
2. Try importing a template from the templates section under WordPress, instead of within the page.
Thanks for your quick reply.
I’ll see what interim solution works best for me, bearing in mind that I have about 13 domains with the same problem.
One last thing before closing the thread: is the development team working on this bug? I’ve had a look at the changes log of the latest 3 updates and haven’t seen anything that makes me think that the issue has been addressed. The only thing that appears on the changes log that remotely refers to THIS importing issue is:
Fix: SVG and JSON files were not being uploaded when Dragged from Desktop (#17194)
However this is not the problem. Files are not being uploaded, full stop. 🙂 Hence my question, is someone working on fixing this?
Again, thanks again Michelle for your help
Esther
Hi,
Thank you for the reply.
We are working on solving the JSON template issue.
Please go to your WordPress Dashboard, hover over the Elementor tab > Settings.
Make sure Enable Unfiltered File Uploads is in fact enabled, if not, change to enable and save.
When you are done, check the Templates again and let me know if the issue is solved.
Hello @talmo
Thanks for your reply. Then I hope the JSON template issue is soon resolved.
Regarding your instructions, as I said to Michelle earlier (please read above), since enabling the unfiltered file uploads is somewhat risky, I prefer to stick to the 3.4.8. version until the issue is resolved.
Thank you again and I hope the bug is fixed asap in the next update.
Best regards,
Esther

Hi, but the topic has been marked as resolved. Will anyone answer me if the thread is closed? I don’t see how. Can I then reopen it?
I have reopened this thread because the issue is still unresolved. Is someone from the Elementor team going to respond??
Hi,
I’m sorry to hear you’re still facing the issue.
Which version do you currently use?
Kindly note that as for now when using the latest version you might have the Unfiltered File Uploads enabled to upload a JSON template
I had to revert to version 3.4.8 which is the last one that allowed templates to be imported. None of the later versions allow it, unless the feature “Enable unfiltered file uploads” is turned on, which clearly states that implies there are security risks involved. Not very helpful, tbh.
I can’t believe that this issue has still not been even addressed and, bearing in mind the time and versions passed, I honestly do not think it will ever be. Thank you so much.
