    Hi,

I exported my squarespace (version 5) blog in xml format. I uploaded the file to wordpress blog, using the MovableType Import option.

After uploading i receive the message to assign authors - "Below, you can see the names of the authors of the Movable Type posts in italics." but nothing appears

After that, the message "All done" appears, but there are no post on the blog. Also checked the db and there are no posts there.

The xml seems to be valid, it's 20MB so it appears to contain all the posts.

    Any ideas?

    thank you.

Also checked the db and there are no posts there.

That means you have not imported the database. Try again.

    Hi Krishna,

Obviously, I tried multiple times. Also checked with SquareSpace that the xml is in a valid format. As I said, the xml file was uploaded to the server successfully, but there are no posts. If the upload of the file failed i should receive an error message. I don't. I get the "All done, have fun" message.

Also, this has been reported by other users in this forum. In all the posts I found, someone from the WordPress team asked the xml file and the solutions was not described.

I'm using my own hosting but also tried to import it to a free wordpress blog and received an email saying "Your Movable Type import was successful.". Again, no posts there.

Looks like that's the problem. How did you upload and where?
You need to go to your phpMyAdmin and import the file there.

what does phpMyAdmin has to do with this? The xml doesn't simply contain a database structure, so phpMyAdmin wouldn't do the job.

I'm using the WordPress MovableType importer plugin, as described in multiple sites as the right way. Example: http://business.lavitaebellablog.com/2013/01/how-to-move-a-blog-from-squarespace-to-wordpress/
