Importing from wiki – not MT or LiveJournal

  • I’ve been blogging with a wiki. So I have a collection of text files with wiki markup. It would be trivial for me to write a program to organize them into some form for import to WP. Maybe
    Author:<name>
    Date:<post date>
    Category:<cat>
    <entry text>
    Does WP have a program I can pipe this to? It can be any structured form, what I put in above is what flowed out of my brain while typing this note.
    Yes this means I don’t know SQL. 🙂

  • mikeraz, take a look at the MT export file format. Just use the fields you want, and leave the rest there with blanks, like, if you dont have any comments , leave the

    in there, but dont remove that part altogether (you could, but rather just let it be.
    Then you can import using import-mt.php
    A sample MT export file is at

    Hope that helps.
    Let me know if it works 🙂
