I recently moved to Woocommerce from Bigcommerce. I sell downloadable products and I would like to be able to import my customer list and let them create accounts through Woocommerce so that they can access their downloadable purchases. Is there a way to do this? I just would like to have everything in one place now in case someone needs to re-download or access their order.

    Thank you!

  • Hi
I think you are looking for something like Yith easy order page for WooCommerce , but i doubt it has the functionality to allow customers to create pages.

But this would be specifically after they have already purchased outside of Woo. So allowing them to create an account and me adding their prior purchase info.

    Hi there,

    Thank you for reaching out!

I sell downloadable products and I would like to be able to import my customer list and let them create accounts through Woocommerce so that they can access their downloadable purchases. WooCommerce relies on the default WordPress user functionality so if you import customers to your site – that will create accounts for them. I am not aware of a way to import a list of your customers but not actually create accounts for them.

They might need to reset passwords but this part is controlled by WordPress.

You’ll also need to import orders and make sure the download permissions are there and associated with the correct users/customers.

By default, there isn’t a way to import both customers and orders, so you will need an additional plugin, something like Customer/Order/Coupon CSV Import Suite (although it should also be possible to find a free third-party plugin).

After installing a customer/order import plugin, you may want to export a customer/order pair and see how exactly that data is formatted and linked in the .csv file.

After that, you’ll have to make sure the order/customer/download data you have from BigCommerce matches the formatting of the file you’ve exported, and then import your customers and orders.

I have not tested any other plugins (e.g. ones capable of doing a full customer/order migration from BigCommerce to WooCommerce) but I do see some third-party options with a quick “migrate customers and orders from Bigcommerce to WooCommerce” Google search.

    I hope this helps!

Yes, thank you so much! Answered exactly what I needed to know! There aren’t a lot of customers/orders, so entering them manually wouldn’t be a problem versus importing them. And then I can import the orders?

    Thank you again!

    Hey @ledinewaa,

There aren’t a lot of customers/orders, so entering them manually wouldn’t be a problem versus importing them. And then I can import the orders?

If you are looking to use the extension that was previously suggested you can find a sample of a CSV file to import orders here.

To import the orders you’d need to make sure the CSV file had that same structure. If you are manually creating your customers you would need to ensure that the customer_id column in your CSV matches the ID that’s generated when you manually added them so that the orders are correctly linked to the right customer.

    I hope that helps!

    Kind regards,
