    When I import feeds from Meetup, all formatting is lost. We end up with just one long chunk of text.

    Suggestions on how to maintain formatting from the feed?

  • Hello @dietcheese,

    Can you provide an example on your calendar page? Also, provide the URL where you are importing events from so I can take a look and investigate. In my testing, I did not experience loss of formatting with Meetup events — this might just be specific to the feed or events in question.

    Hello @dietcheese,

    In my testing of import Meetup feeds and events, they were simple layouts, and formatted as the original events. In this particular case, it looks like a lot of formatting and other coding/addons are being used — so in the process of import — they are lost. The particular Meetup page looks like there are other embedded sections too, which obviously cannot be imported as they are from external sources. In this particular case, your option is to manually edit the event you imported, if you would like to make it more visually appealing.

    If I wanted to manually edit the Timely code to change the behavior of the import, which files should I be looking at?

    Sorry @dietcheese,

    If you misunderstood. I meant, manually edit the event that was imported. By navigating to All Events, click on the event, then edit the layout.

    @sunny454 – I understood correctly.

    However, I’m still interested in manually changing the plugin code so that my Meetup events retain their formatting.

    Which files should I be looking at in order to do this?

    Thanks!

    Hello @dietcheese,

    I don’t have the information you are requesting. Importing files is not a small code change, it’s a major change to several functions — not something simple, so you don’t understand.

    The information you request can come from the development team, whose priority at the moment is bug fixes, upgrade, and pushing for the release of our new Saas platform — these are more pressing matters.

    @sunny454

    Where can I find out which functions will need to be edited in order to get this working? Having my Meetup events unformatted like this is not acceptable and I would like to work on a fix myself.

    Thanks,
    DC

    Hello @dietcheese,

    First of all, as I mentioned before, it’s not even feasible to automatically format an import of an event page that is flooded with external sources of data/plugins — hence my original workaround for this page of events is to manually edit them. Other than that, as I’ve mentioned before, for faster assistance, please log into your Timely account and open a ticket by clicking on the Get Help link, or click here: https://dashboard.time.ly/account/get-help.

    Manually editing the imports isn’t an option – there are simply too many. That is why I asked for just some basic information on which files will need editing/classes extended/hooks implemented in order to change what Time.ly is doing to the imports. It appears that, at some point Time.ly is removing the formatting, in which case, I would like to prevent this from happening.

    Anyways, I’ve opened a support ticket – hopefully I’ll get more direction there.
