# import table – preserve hyperlinks

 * I have a long XL file to import. Many of the cells have hypertext links. Is it
   possible to import this data with workable hyperlinks? I have tried importing
   as .csv and all the xl versions. Am I missing something>

 * thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.
 * Unfortunately, there’s no direct possibility to keep links from an Excel spreadsheet
   during an import to TablePress. The reason for this is that the link formats 
   differ. Excel uses a proprietary format, while TablePress uses HTML code.
    Now,
   if your links are actually just the URLs, you can simply use this TablePress 
   Extension: [http://tablepress.org/extensions/automatic-url-conversion/](http://tablepress.org/extensions/automatic-url-conversion/)
   If your links have custom link texts, you could try a solution with a macro in
   Excel that rewrites the links to HTML as briefly described here: [http://wordpress.org/support/topic/hyperlinks-in-cells](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/hyperlinks-in-cells)
   Unfortunately, I have never used this before and I’m not an Excel expert, so 
   I won’t be able to help with that code.
