I can no longer use the gallery, it just gets stuck in progress. I think the problem started with my old host, migrated the site and still no luck getting images into a new gallery. I can upload into my media but that’s all. Old galleries still working.

Thanks for your time, hoping for an easy fix but from what I’ve experienced so far with WordPress I doubt it will be 🙁

@ausworkshop – Please try our external Reset Tool plugin here: https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery-reset/get/default.zip

To install and activate, go to Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin
To use, go to Tools > NextGEN Gallery Reset

We do not offer specific support for the Reset Tool plugin as is but it can help in many circumstances, please let us know if it does.

    Thanks!

Thanks I might give that a try when I have time (if my developer hasn’t tried that already). In the mean time it is now working by going back to a much older version of WordPress. Now I keep getting notified that I need to update but at least I can use the gallery again and make changes to my site. It must have been caused by one of the WP updates. Very frustrating but hey, I’m slowly getting used to that with WP!

@ausworkshop – We are not aware of anything specifically tied to the current version of WordPress and our latest releases of NextGEN Gallery. It is still likely going to be something that was triggered in the migration although that is out of our hands to know specifically what happened and/or identify what was done.

    Thanks for the update!

It was happening before the migration. One of the reasons I decided to move it all over was because the previous host and developers were not answering my questions about the problems I was having with my gallery (and other problems).

Now I have a new problem with navigation buttons underneath my blog posts. The buttons take you to very old original pages. I have no way to edit this navigation, it should be the same as the home page navigation. I have no idea how these buttons can use the exact same urls yet take you to two different pages, one that doesn’t even exist anymore!
So confusing! Even my new guy doesn’t know what is going on. I will continue to search for answers but no luck so far. I can’t delete a page that doesn’t exist, I can’t redirect the URL’s because they are already using the same one.

@ausworkshop – I’m not certain what you are referring to with the navigation issue, I had a look at your gallery page and it appears to be working as expected; can you provide a specific URL to where you are seeing our navigation not working as expected?

    Thanks!

Thanks, but as I said I don’t have the problem with the gallery not importing anymore (I think because it’s now an old version of WP). I am able to do that now but I have all these notifications saying that I need to update so I’m just ignoring them.

My new problem is probably best directed elsewhere but here goes. For those that like a challenge.

The home page (which I think is static?) cannot be edited from my menu, so I can’t edit the links on my home page. Not the navigation up the top, the links further down the page, there are three of them.

The Wooden Signs link is currently going to https://www.handcraftedtimber.comhttps//handcraftedtimber.com/Wooden_Signs

So it’s doubled up and I can’t edit it. No idea how this happened and it used to be ok.
The navigation up the top is ok, just the link from the pic and text has stuffed up.

The other problem is related to these same links but only when they appear below my blog posts, Click Blog up the top and it will take you through. The links below my posts should be linking just the same as my home page links but they are not, they are linking to old URL’s that I used briefly before changing my URL’s back to my really old ones to try to regain that lost traffic.
The strangest thing is these pages no longer exist but can still be viewed.
The other strange thing is I have put 301 redirects in place so they should be redirecting to my current pages anyway which use the old original URL’s. Instead they take users through to these ‘Phantom’ Pages that I can no longer edit.

I’ve wasted so much time and money on this newest website. I wish I had just left everything alone, it was working fine for 12 years but was looking tired and out of date. It’s so hard to get good advice on how to set up my new website yet keep all that old traffic with redirects. I was told I would be able to have full control and be able to edit everything which I can’t. I have at least managed to move it all to a new host who will allow me to have access to plug ins at least. But if I can’t even edit my own home page I’m pretty disappointed.

Oh and I should add, to get to my real home page you have to click home up the top once you’re there, otherwise it won’t redirect you to the REAL homepage which is https, it will show my blog instead. The security certificate was another waste of money after poor advice, it’s caused more problems than it has solved if you ask me. Probably half the reason my site is not working properly. These people are happy to take your money then you’re just left wondering if they have done it all correctly. I would have thought all versions of my website should now take you through to the newest secure version by redirecting but it’s obviously not because when I click that link in my first post it is now taking you to my blog instead of my secure homepage like it should and always was.
https is supposed to help with rankings but if it’s causing all these problems with redirects not working properly then I doubt it has been a good thing at all in terms of SEO. I’ve spoken to numerous experts who are confident that they would fix it and still here I am more confused than ever. I just noticed last night that one of the redirects wasn’t even in place so I had to put it in myself using Simple Redirects.
And my site is now slower than ever!

@ausworkshop – Sorry to read you are having all of these issues with your site and although not likely related to NextGEN Gallery there is also not much that we can offer in the way of assistance here as well.

It may be a case of having someone specifically take the time to look through the site and do some serious benchmarking and testing to find where all of the issues are stemming from with the most important aspect of getting you to the current release of WordPress to start with.

Although your current installed version is the most recent for that specific branch it would still be much better to be using the current release of the current branch all the same.

Thanks; and, best of luck getting all of this sorted out.
