# Import selected posts & images

 * Hello! I have a lot of posts on a self-hosted install, but that I need to retrieve.
   I don’t want to get everything – just the stuff by me. But I want to make sure
   I get everything, including images.
 * I then want to import to a different, also self hosted WP install.
 * When I tried the standard WordPress Importer, it didn’t import any of the images.
 * Can anyone suggest a (relatively) easy way of exporting the posts and images 
   together? A plugin would be ideal, but I can’t find anything when I search.

 * The WordPress importer will import any media associated with a post however it
   won’t import Featured images for some reason. you can use this plugin:

 * I usually make an export with all my posts and then export using the plugin to
   export all the featured images. You can then import both exported files using
   the WordPress importer.

 * Thanks [@mojowill](https://wordpress.org/support/users/mojowill/), that looks
   great, but doesn’t let me filter the featured images by author. I have a couple
   of hundred articles by myself; but if I let it export all the featured images
   across the site, I’d end up with literally tens of thousands. That’s why I was
   specific in my question that “I don’t want to get everything – just the stuff
   by me.”

 * Ah I understand, I’m not aware of anything that does that. Perhaps you could 
   use the plugin I suggested as a base and modify it to add the filters you require?

 * Great idea. Sadly, I’m not clever enough to even know where to start with that.
