Support » Plugin: Add From Server » Import large amount of images

  • I’m currently in the process of giving this plugin the ultimate test I feel.

I’m currently trying to import just under 10,000 images from a folder on my server. It’s found all the images… after some time – it looked like it froze. However leaving it alone – it has listed all the images.

Next step, I am selecting them all… again, nothing has happened and but I’m just going to wait and see if it puts a tick in all the selection boxes. This is the stage I’m currently up to.

I will update this once I have finished adding my images to let you know if it handled everything OK or if I had any issues. However, I would recommend one thing at this stage… in future versions, would it be possible to include a progress bar of some kind so we know it is still doing it’s thing and hasn’t froze?

Just an idea – so far so good however.

Yeah, the plugin isn’t designed for what you’re trying to do and you’re most definately going to run into a php time limit or memory limitation.

Due to the design of the plugin, a progress bar or anything else similar isn’t possible right now, but a future rewritten version will probably use a client-side queue and be JS based (this plugin was written 8 years ago and very little has changed since then).

You may find that using WP-CLI and it’s media import option will be a better option for you.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have never heard of the WP-CLI media import option so I will try and find out/learn about that.

Thanks a lot for getting back to me Dion.

I’ve just taken a look and I don’t think that option would work for me as it talks about linking to a post.

I never thought something like this would be an issue to be honest. I’ve never came across it before with other stores – hopefully I’ll find a solution but thanks again for your help.
