Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Square » Import from Square with variations not working

Today when I did an import of new items that have variations (item-color-size) from my Square account to my Woocommerce site, I discovered that the item description imports, but it shows the item is out of stock (0).

I edited the item in Woocommerce and it doesn’t show any variations. Under the general tab, it says to add a sku to sync with square. There is a sku in Square. The product data shows it is a simple product.

When I changed the product data from simple product to variable product, then the variation tab became available, and it showed all of the variations I created in Square for that item. Then I went back to the general tab and I checked the sync with square box. I then updated the item.

To verify this worked, I went to Square and changed the quantity of one of the variations, then did a sync in Woocommerce Square. The item updated correctly.

I then deleted the item in Square and did a sync. The item still shows up in Woocommerce. However, in the sync record log, it shows that the item was not found in Square.

I checked the logs and the item and all variations were imported correctly.

I am running Woocommerce 5.0 and the latest Woocommerce Square plugin. I noticed this when I was running the previous Woocommerce version and the previous Square plugin. I upgraded both to see if that would fix the issue. Obviously it didn’t help.

    Thanks.

    Hi @kegobeer ,

That’s odd. Can you please check WP Admin → WooCommerce → Settings → Square and let us know the “Product System of Record” that’s set there?

Also, can you please enable debug logging from WP Admin → WooCommerce → Settings → Square, then do a sync. After that, please go to WP Admin → WooCommerce → Status → Logs, select “Square” from the right side dropdown, click the view button, copy the log and share it with us here.

Do let us know so we can check and help further.

Square is the product system of record.

Square generated two logs, one 5mb in size and the other 208kb in size. I’ll upload them and send you the links. Would you let me know what email address to send the link?

    Hi @kegobeer ,

Would you let me know what email address to send the link?

I’d recommend creating an account on WooCommerce.com and opening a ticket there to share the logs. You can create a ticket for us at WooCommerce.com > My Account > Support.

Please include a link to this forum thread, so that we can keep track of what’s already been done.

I see this was previously reported:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-is-not-importing-variations-inventory-from-square/

At least it’s not specific to my website, so that’s good to know. Hopefully this can be fixed quickly.

    Hi @kegobeer,

Noted! We have the ticket and are looking at it right now, so we will answer it and keep the information in the ticket. If the solution is something that is public (not something unique to your site that caused the issue) then we can post the solution here later, but otherwise we will continue this in the ticket 🙂

    Thanks!
