Support » Plugin: WP Ultimate Recipe » Import from Recipress

    Hi there,
    Thanks for the plugin.

I just renewed the plugin and now I want to import my old recipes from Recipress. There is something about slugs: I don’t use a special slug for a Recipress-recipe. It’s like a normal post with a shortcode beneath the text. The name of the recipe is just after the domain name.

Recipes are catagorized as “recept”. And information is catagorized as “informatie”.

    Thanks for help.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi Anna-Karina,

You can remove the /recipe/ slug from the permalink for our recipes by enabling that setting on the Recipes > Settings > Advanced page.

Is that what you’re looking for?

    Kind regards,

    Hi Brecht,
Thanks for the very quick response! Yes I saw that. So I remove the slug /recipe/ on: “Recept Archief Pagina’s” > slug. Must I deactivate the recipe-archive on the same page?

I want a smooth importprocess. I have almost 500 recipes on the website.
Are there other things to do, before such an import?

    Kind regards,

Oh sorry I see, it’s an option on/off under “Advanced” not under “Recipe Archive”.
    Is that what you mean?

Yes, the option should be called “Remove Recipe Slug” or something like “Recept Slug Verwijderen”.

Try importing just 1 recipe first and see what is looks like to make sure everything is set up correctly.

Aha, import just 1 recipe is also possible in the import option?

    Plugin Author Brecht

Sure! You can use checkboxes to select as many recipes as you want.

I did not see any checkbox! Where do I have to look for that? I’am importing from ReciPress.

So I imported all the recipes, almost perect… But some info was missing, and I just put back the back-up ;-).

In the Recipress plugin I wrote the total of carbs in the field “yield”. For me that’s very important for all recipes. So I want to import that info to a custom field like “Koolhydraten”.
I do not use the nutricion label (to much info, and in the US they count fiber within the carbs, and in Europe we don’t!

I really appreciate your help. Thank you so much!!

There is no total time either?

    Plugin Author Brecht

Oh my bad. For ReciPress it does import everything at once.

The yield should automatically get saved as a custom field called “recipe_yield” that you can use:

WP Ultimate Recipe does not have Total Time but we use a combination of prep, cook and passive time instead.

So when I first add a custom field in WRURP with the same key I use in ReciPress it’s automatically converted with to the same key? Is that what you mean? Ans than to display it, I have to add the key/field to a new template, I presume?

My ‘old’ ReciPress-recipes have no slug like /recipe/ between the domainname and postname.
How about the Google index (and ranking) after converting those hundreds of old recipes to WPURP? In your plugin all the recipes are stored as ‘/recipe/’, not as normal posts.

No need to do anything first. On import the yield is automatically imported as a custom key.

To then display it you can indeed add it to the recipe template.

On the Recipes > Settings > Advanced page you can enable the “Remove Recipe Slug” setting. If you do that the URL will be identical, so you don’t have to worry about that.

    Hi Brecht,

Oh I see 😉 I switched the button “off”. (denkfoutje) I think I’am getting somewhere now!

Just testing a few things, and GO!

Thanks a lot! Really a lot!

    Thanks Brecht!
Almost everything is working fine now!
