    Hello there,
I’m trying to import my db of 1000+ users from lifetype to wp.
I’ve read all the topics + all the sites about this subject, people say to use an old plog-importer or the updated one called lifetype2wpmu (
I’ve tried it and it’s just not compatible with wp3.

Somehow wpmu_create_blog() adds the users to the wp_blogs table, but it doesn’t create the extra tables wp_[ID]_posts wp_[ID]_options for each blog.. Isn’t this function supposed to do the job?

I tried the patch but that did not help :<

Are there really functions included in wordpress to manage mass users/blogs/links/comments/posts importing? I’ve checked some other importers and they don’t seem to be for multisites..

Any help really appreciated (i’m stuck for some time already..).

  • I know this would be a bit clunky, but have you thought about starting with an old version of WPMU (2.9.2, for example –, then trying to import the users with one of the tools you said wasn’t compatible with WP 3.x, then upgrading to WordPress 3.x?

Be forewarned, though, that if you take that route, you’ll have to upgrade to WordPress 3.0 (possibly 3.0.1) before upgrading to WordPress 3.0.3 (the upgrade/conversion mechanism from WPMU->WordPress Multi-Site only works with WP 3.0).

It’s a lot of steps, but if it works, it’s probably a lot better than trying to manually perform the conversion.

Curtiss Grymala, thanks rhat did the trick!
But i also had to add the patch i gave earlier in wpmu-functions.php.

Though i hope somebody will look into it one day, i’m sure many people would like to migrate..
    Thanks again!
