• Hi

I know there is a plugin that reads feeds into the wp_post table. But I am looking for a plugin that reads feeds into a seperate table. I would like to use this to built a lifestream and import my last.fm, Jaiku etc. in my own database.

Is there anything like this out there?

Thanks for any help in advance!

  • Into a separate table or a separate DB? The importer can be modified to write to a different table, but somehow I’m guessing thats not what you really want.

    What is a lifestream?

A seperate table would be fine. And when you talk about “the importer” do you mean Feedwordpress?

A lifestream is a page that reads all your (jaiku, twitter, flickr, cocomments, last.fm, your weblog feeds) feeds and displays them on a page.
    Examples:
    http://www.thegirlinthecafe.com/lifestream
    or
    http://binarybonsai.com/about/lifestream

The problem is that services like Jaiku and Last.fm always only display the last 10 items, which is why I would like to import them, to keep them in an archive.

If those services could ping or trackback the wordpress blog, you wouldn’t have do very much work at all other than to set up a page or two show the pings. Nor would you have to poll the services.

You might want to research some existing plugins to see if something is close to what you want or ask in the plugin forum section. Contact the person at binarybonsai.com might be a good place to start.

They can’t ping, they provide feeds which is the only way to get the info. Binarybonsai.com has the same problem. His feeds don’t get imported. I guess nobody has tackled this yet, I give up and wait a while. I am sure the lifestream thing is going to spread.
