• Hello,

I need to export the events with the associated venue from a website (either with WordPress Export or with events manager Pro+) and import them onto another existing site to continue using them there. I tested this with the WordPress export function. If the location already exists on the target page, the wrong location is assigned to the event because the ID already exists. Can I get around this or can the Pro+ version do this? (If it works with the Pro+ version, I’ll buy it)

    How can I solve this?

    Thanks!

  • Yes, it’s doable with the Pro version. Here’s the link to the documentation: https://wp-events-plugin.com/documentation/importing-exporting/

Thanks, I know the link. I just wasn’t sure whether the assignment of events/event locations from page A would be retained when they were imported into page B.

Both the event and the location could already exist on page B, but they don’t have to. If the location exists on page B, its ID does not match the ID of the “same” location on page A. In this case, the event would be assigned the wrong location. I hope you understand what I mean.

With the Pro+ version, would you then export as Excel or CSV and import directly from Excel or CSV again? Or do I then have to add or replace something in the Excel file before importing?

I used the “Events & Locations” option to export and then used the “Events & Locations” option to import the file and it worked fine. I used a CSV export and made sure all the field mappings were correct. I noticed it doesn’t handle Bookings and it doesn’t handle Recurring Events (but it does import all the individual events that make up the recurring event series). The Locations and Events were imported correctly with each Event pointing to the correction Location.

    Thank you for testing!

Were there, as in my case, already locations and events on the “new” site (page B) ?

What I mean is that two Events Manager event lists with their locations, which are currently on two different domains, are to be merged on one website. Unfortunately, the location IDs are duplicated, which caused problems when I tried to do this with the wordpress export/import function.

It should work fine. I would check the import file from the site your exporting from and make sure the location ids match the location ids in the import site.

That’s exactly the problem. There are a lot of locations on these two websites, both websites have been around for a long time with an events manager each. The locations of the two sides definitely have different ids at the moment. I was hoping that the Pro+ version could help me. Apparently that doesn’t work.

I don’t know if there’s some automatic way to handle that or not. You can ask pre-sales questions here: https://wp-events-plugin.com/contact-us/

They also have a way to sign up for a trial version: https://trywpem.com

Thank you, I’ll take a look at it. Otherwise I have to do it manually …
