img lost while leaving front page

    Hello everyone,
    i am new to WordPress so i apologize if this issue is very basic.
    I have an image as the banner of my site and it is embedded with a simple IMG tag on header.php.
    problem is that while is it visible on the main page, somehow it disappears when viewing a page or a post… for some reason the URL i used as “src” is wrong once navigating to any other page on the site that is not the frontpage…

    i am sure there is a simple way to resolve this.
    any suggestions?
