    WordPress: 5.2.2
    NextGEN Gallery: 3.2.10

I haven’t used the plugin for data entry since 2018/07/22. I am doing all the updates (I mean the website is fully updated and working).
Yesterday, I tried to use the plugin and I got into a problem.

The problem is that although the photos are uploaded correctly, thumbs are not generated (even the thumbs folder is created).

    Here is the complete error:
    ImagickException thrown
    NoDecodeDelegateForThisImageFormat 'JPEG' @ error/constitute.c/ReadImage/501

    I have tested all (my) available php versions… 5.6, 7.0, 7.1 & 7.2.
All of them return the same error. So for the time I will be using php v.7.2.x

    Any suggestions?

    Hi @kanenas,

Thanks for the detailed report. Looking at the error code it seems to be a serverside problem with Imagick module that’s not enabled to read JPEG images. You will need to ask the hosting provider’s help for removing Imagick PHP extension making sure that JPEG image format is enabled for Imagick’s reading.

    This should help

Thanks for replying! Could you please explain further what do you mean by

removing Imagick PHP extension making sure that JPEG image format is enabled for Imagick’s reading

I mean, if you remove Imagick PHP extension how is this

JPEG image format is enabled for Imagick’s reading

    going to happen?

    Best regards,
    Nikolas

Ah, I am very sorry .. I seem have missed to say that you will need to remove the actual Imagick extension then install it new making sure that the JPEG extension is enabled or find a way to enable JPEG format for the actual Imagick extension since it isn’t currently being able to read any JPEG files.

You will need your hosting provider’s help on this

Hi @kanenas, were you able to fix this ? I am facing the same issue on one of our sites.

@sabeeln, the only thing I did was to inform my server guys about this topic. They knew exactly what to do! I suggest you do the same.

    Best regards,
    Nikolas
