• I have an intermittent fault when trying to upload images to my website.

‘Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/content/32/10877132/html/wp-includes/class-wp-image-editor-imagick.php on line 320’

Despite what it says above, the error pops up in much less than 30 seconds, regardless of image size.

I am running the most up to date wordpress version and a graph paper press theme called Albedo.

  • How large are these images? Have you spoken to your hosts about this?

They are jpg’s. Anything from 500kb to 4MB. Nothing that should cause a problem size wise though?

No I haven’t spoken to my hosts (Go Daddy). I thought it was a wordpress bug?

Script throttling/cut-offs are performed server-side. WordPress itself doesn’t impose any such limitations. What happens if you upload (say) a 100k image?

I still get an error though this time it says:

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Did you try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message? Your hosts should be able to help you in accessing your site’s error logs.

OK just trying to do that.

So is this definitely a hosting issue rather than a wordpress issue?

Yes – definitely. I’m afraid that GoDaddy are rather notorious for overloading servers and generally having very poor performance. You might get a better result if you asked them to transfer your site to a completely different server with far less existing domains already running on it.

If you could tell us your domain name, we might be able to tell you just how many other sites are running on the same server.
