Support » Fixing WordPress » Images won't upload– Error 500 message

  • Resolved Mooseface

    I was working on one of my pages and I got a nice gallery going and uploaded my images just fine. I am putting up another gallery on a separate page and suddenly I can’t upload anything. I’ve tried changing the files to JPEG, GIF, TIF, and nothing will work. I tried making them smaller. I tried changing the names. Nothing. I keep getting the same message ‘Error 500 Internal Server Error’ and it tells me to try again later. But I’ve been trying to get this to work since last night. I’m very new to wordpress and building sites, so I really need basic instructions.

    Try adding:

    <IfModule mod_security.c>
    <Files async-upload.php>
    SecFilterEngine Off
    SecFilterScanPOST Off

    to your WordPress .htaccess file. Or contacting your hosts. It’s probably a server security configuration issue.

    I am also getting the same error, also rather suddenly – when uploading images via image manager I gest 500 error. I’ve tried a variety of different image formats and browers and the same error is there.

    I have tried renaming .htaccess, and also adding what @esmi suggested above. I have also deactivated all my plugins. None of these changes have made a difference.

    Any help would be appreciated, I have only a basic understanding of wordpress.

    Thanks esmi, I contacted my host and they fixed it!
