• Whenever I try to use drop and drag, or choose file I get the following message:

File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.

and no image. My image is 940 X 198 pixels and about 200 kb, so it isn’t empty.

Any advice would be most helpful. I have just upgraded from 2.6 to 3.41

    thanks!!

thanks for all this…I am away from home this week with sketchy internet access but I will try to revert to an older version next week and do an incremental upgrade. One last question…where might I find the interim upgrades? I think the version I was running was 2.5.1 and I have a copy of 2.6 which I could install…

I don’t have a database back up…Is there a way to back up the database from my host’s my-SQL server?

    Thanks for your help!

Does your host use CPanel (or another management software)? if so you can take a database back up from there. If your hosts are running phpmyadmin, you can take a back up from there as well.
You can also ask your hosts for a site back up that they should perform at least weekly. (maybe they have one that is before all this started?)

    download/release-archive

I believe you should go back to whatever version you were running, then do the upgrades. Read the page that is linked. Good luck.

Make sure you get a database backup, as it holds all your posts, comments, pages, etc

Okay, so I started to upgrade incrementally from 2.51 to 2.7, but immediately had the same problem. So I returned to the 2.5.1 version and now I am having that same problem there.

    The message I get is

Unable to create directory /home/c/6/9/21965/21965/public_html/metamoments/wp-content/uploads/2012/07. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I have set the permissions at 777. I am concerned that WordPress is creating an incorrect directory path and I can’t figure out why. This is the correct directory path to the wp-content folder:

    /home/vg010web06/17/64/2926417/web/metamoments/wp-content

Any thoughts would be helpful. I am beginning to think Tumblr is gaining appeal!!

    thanks again,

I am at a loss here as to what is causing this problem.
Does your Host (have you talked with them?) have a back up of your entire site from before any of this problem started? Perhaps putting that in place would be the place to start.
Sorry, any ideas I had I already mentioned.

Another idea (to test WP) would be to make a new directory and install a clean new version of WP into it and see if that works.
