    Hi,

Recently a lot of my images in the WordPress dashboard have been replaced by blue boxes with white question marks in them.
It goes for some icons in some plugins, but most importantly it goes for all the photos in my library. If I want to know which image I have chosen in the library, I have to first click one of the squares (which used to show an image), and then click edit image, and then I can see which image I have chosen.
On the website itself a few things have changed. I have lost the header photo, and a plugin displaying social media icons only show aforementioned blue boxes.
I have tried to use Chrome instead (I use Safari), but it doesn’t help. It doesn’t happen on any other websites.
This change came about when I was getting help from Bluehost to redirect http to https. I removed stored cookies and data and emptied cache, all in Safari, to check to see if the redirect they had applied worked (which it didn’t).
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Many thanks in advance!

PLease disable whatever plugin you’re using that blocks right clicks.

    Hi,

    Did it just now.

    1. I don’t see any broken images.
    2. You still have right click disabled.

Please point to a particular page where you see broken images and test to make sure one can right click and inspect your pages.

    1) It is the images in the WordPress dashboard library view that I have problems with. The images on the website is fine, besides the header image which is missing – now it is just black where the image should be.

    2) I am able to right click on images on my website, and inspect element.

I am really sorry, but I am not technical advanced.

    Oh, OK, the back end.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you can install plugins, install “Health Check”: https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/ On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

I deactivated the plugin displaying social media icons on the website, as it didn’t work anymore. I can reactive it again, if you need me to. When it was activated I saw blue boxes instead of icons. A friend of mine saw white space only.

If that plugin breaks your site, dump it and get another.

I am just thinking it is strange if it is a conflict as everything worked fine up until Bluehost tried to help me with the redirect. I have not installed any new themes or plugins after the Bluehost incident. I was thinking they might have rerouted something by mistake, therefore the images are not showing as they are suppose to. Or am I totally off?

When I use the Health Check plugin, will I loose all the plugin settings when I disable the all plugins?

I have right-clicked the blue boxes in the dashboard, and clicked inspect element. The error message says: Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 ()
Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?
Should I contact Bluehost – can they fix this?

403 is a file permission error. Please check the permissions on those derivative image files.

    FYI, fixed by Bluehost.
