    Hello all,

I’m having trouble adding new media to the library. When I attempt to upload any files using the multi-file uploader the files get stuck in crunching if the file size is over 6MB. I’ve successfully uploaded photos under 6MB with no problem. I understand that the max size is 20MB, so I’m not sure why uploading images under the max size would be an issue.

I’ve disabled all plugins and switched to multiple themes with no success. I’ve also disabled firewalls and program internet security.

I’ve searched the forums for this issue but all I’ve found is general crunching issues. I only have the issue if I try and upload a file over 6MB.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • I’ve also tried switching browsers with no success.

Found out that WordPress only accepts images under 3megapixels…regardless of file size. If you want to avoid crunching, resize your photos to less than 3MP. FYI, if you use Adobe Lightroom, it has a setting to limit the file size of an image on export.

fyi – i’ve gotten the crunching freeze when uploading pics less than 1 megapixel – pics i had been able to upload before – but it’s worth trying the method above in case that’s the cause of your frozen crunch
