Images Not Included in Sitemaps

    Recently we noticed that images are no longer included in our sitemaps.

    Has something changed with the RankMath plugin?

    How can we get images back into the sitemap?

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    We can check that the images are being included in your site’s sitemaps. Here is a screenshot for your reference: https://i.rankmath.com/i/00db0B
     
    The URL you have shared is for a feed. Are you using any of the settings under WordPress Dashboard > Rank Math SEO > General Settings > Others to control the data inside your feeds?

    Please make sure that you are not removing the media data from the feeds if you want the images to appear there.

    When I input the sitemap URL into the browser I am redirected to the homepage. How can I view my sitemap?

    When I post my sitemap into Google Search Console, I get the error message “Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead” (see attached screenshot below).

    It seems like you have set the default behavior for 404s to redirect to your homepage, which is happening when accessing your sitemap index.
     
    In this case, please follow these steps to flush your sitemap cache:
     
    1. Flush the Sitemap cache by following this video screencast:

    2. Exclude the Sitemap files of the Rank Math plugin in your caching plugin. The cache could be via a plugin or from the server. For plugins or Cloudflare, please follow this article:
